After the execution of Jang Song Thaek, Kim Jung-un's aunt Jin Jin Ji (Jang's wife) has not been seen publicly, this even includes attendance to the nationwide memorial of the second anniversary of Kim Jong Il's death.

The shock of her husband's execution has reportedly caused the widow's heart condition to worsen. She has since been sent out of the country for treatment.

An official North Korean newspaper claims that "Jin Jing Ji's health has deteriorated to the point that she was unable to participate in the second anniversary memorial for Kim Jong Il and has already gone abroad for treatment." Many speculate that she has hereditary heart disease and was in poor health to begin with. When her husband was executed on counter-revolutionary charges it was too much for her and her health turned for the worse.

Other reports suggest that the North Korean leadership will place blame on the executed Jang Song Thaek for the nation's commercial failures, (within the department of agriculture, for example), as well as other instances of corruption within the national military.

Some theories suggest that the execution of Jang Song Thaek was entirely the work of the military and that Kim Jong-un, given his lack of true power in the face of them, had no choice but to let them carry it out.
