BIGBANG has topped Billboard's World Digital Song chart with their new song "Bang Bang Bang" also earning the coveted Most Viewed K-pop music video of the summer. The band bested out EXO, SHINee and Girls' Generation.
According to Billboard, the summer of 2015 is definitely an exciting time for K-pop fans. Although there is some tight competition between the bands and pop groups, BIGBANG clearly proved to everyone that they are still group to beat with eight singles and five music videos in the countdown.
"Bang Bang Bang" was hailed the most viewed K-pop music video on YouTube with more than 61 million views to date. The group also earned the first three spot in the World Digital Song chart, a record currently owned by PSY, for "Bang Bang Bang," "If You" and "Sober."
It is also interesting to note that Psy's "Gangnam Style" ranked no. 4 in the World Digital Song chart even if it was not released in 2015.
Meanwhile, speaking to Idolator, BIGBANG revealed that they are excited to come back together to promote their new album "MADE" after going on a hiatus to each pursue a solo career. They shared that they are eager to show fans a different side of the group with their latest singles.
BIGBANG may have faced strong competitions from newcomers but they were still able to top the K-pop charts left and right. When asked about the secret to their success, they explained that they owe everything to the fans. They added that they always try to create music that highlights each of the member's unique style and strength.
