Among those shortlisted in this year's Oscar awards, "The Grandmaster" has definitely caught the most attention in China. The movie has now made it to the top nine, making the production company and their publicist really hopeful for the big good news.

Many major US media, including The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, have anticipated the crowning of "The Grandmaster" for foreign language category. The Hollywood Reporter has published an article that highly anticipates "The Grandmaster" to be the winner. It also gave really good reviews of the movie.

"The Grandmaster" will also compete for any awards and categories for this year's Oscar.

The voting rules at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for the foreign language category has changed this year. For the first time since the category was created in 1956, the entire voting membership can determine the foreign-language winner.

Voting begins Friday for 2014's Academy Awards nominees. Members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences are invited to cast secret ballots for their favorite film until Jan. 8, 2014.

The academy is offering electronic voting for the second consecutive year. It announced last week that 289 feature films are eligible for best-picture consideration. Members such as Ang Lee, Gong Li, Ziyi Zhang, who are Chinese directors and actresses will participate in the voting as well.
