LG has announced its Gram laptop lineup, debuting its premium ultra light PCs to the American audience.
LG Gram laptops come in three different variations and they all have pre-installed Windows 10. The laptops feature large displays that do not affect the hardware's lightweight design. The South Korean electronics company relies on classically useful laptop features such as compact dimensions and an attractive display.
The company’s Gram series apparently looks and feels like MacBook, offering minimalist exterior and familiar-looking island-style keyboard. The name Gram is derived from the LG computer's weight, which at less than a kilogram, The Verge reported.
For comparison, the 13- and 14-inch models both weigh in at 980 grams/2.16 pounds, lighter than the 11- and 13-inch Macbook Air. Both laptops offer a 1920 x 1080 IPS screen, which is better compared to Apple's ageing Air.
LG's new laptops possess only Intel's 5th-generation Broadwell, making a 7.5 hours of comparatively low battery life. The Gram lineup has no USB-C ports and SD card reader, but it comes with HDMI port and a microSD reader. There are no backlit keys either, and the built is made up of carbon-lithium and carbon-magnesium, making the design feels a bit flimsy and creak but offers little heft, and leaves the body with a lot of flex, according to CNET.
LG’s 13-inch Gram with an Intel Core i5 processor, 128GB of storage, and 8GB of RAM sells at $899. The 14-inch Gram possessing Core i5 and 128GB of internal storages costs $999, and the 14-inch Gram with Core i7 and 256GB built-in storage sells at $1,399.
The laptops have a “Reader Mode,” which cuts down on blue light that can mess with sleep cycles. It comes with a warm color, Champagne Gold.
LG Gram laptops are now available through Microsoft (a Microsoft Store or online) and Amazon.
