Two years later, Mr. Li has discovered that those needles were now drilling a hole through his stomach lining.

"At the time I was so angry that I swallowed two 10 cm long needles, but in the end I never got the girl back," Mr. Li told a reporter on December 30.

At that time, he just ate dinner, drank beverages and even slept as normally as he used to. He didn't feel the least bit uncomfortable, until the middle of December this year when, while taking a shower, he noticed that his stomach had developed a pustule.

The pustule was painful to the touch and amid the yellow discharge, he could make out two tiny black dots. While examining the wound with his fingers, he could make out two bloodstained needles.

"The needles passed through the small intestine and changed position at the Ileum and caecum, until finally both were in the caecum," said a doctor. "Because this area is thinner, the needles easily penetrated the tract and entered the abdominal cavity."

He continued, "There was a lot of infection and it would be quite easy to get a severe condition such as necrosis; the needles went into the lower passages and that is why he was able to feel them with his fingers."

Mr. Li is recovering well but still needs more time to fully recover.

The hospital took the opportunity to remind everyone that swallowing foreign objects can lead to intestinal blockage as well as tissue tears. Swallowing nails, rings, and toothbrushes can easily block and tear intestinal passageways. If not treated in time, this can quite easily become life-threatening.
