NASA scientists said that life-giving water still flows on the surface of Mars. According to their reports, NASA cameras took pictures of the surface of Mars that indicate that water still runs down the crater walls and canyons which raises the chances that Mars may have initially supported life.
According to CNN, NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) identified traces and spots of chemicals and minerals that may have once been dissolved in water. The streaks of the identified traces increased more during each Martian summer.
This evidently showed that there is water seeping of flowing when temperatures were high. A spectrum of light used was absorbed and reflected by the material which got scientific interpretation that there were traces of water and salt left.
However, NASA is not yet certain of the source of the water. In spite of this, it has hypothesized on possibilities of melting sub-surface ice. Michael Meyer, a lead scientist in NASA's Mars space program, said that the reason behind the phenomenon is still unknown, The Guardian reported.
With this discovery, a senior researcher at NASA's Mars exploration program, Mary Beth Wilhelm, said that the results show more promise on Mars habitability.
Another associate administrator of NASA during NASA's reporting said that no matter how tiny amounts of water are present in mars, the red planet could have life. Apparently, the water gives the possibility of existence of microbes on Mars.
Researchers in NASA's space program are hopeful that Mars crust can support life. This latest discovery comes ahead of NASA's plan to send humans on Mars.
