An English couple from Stroke-on-Trent allegedly spotted a UFO at 5:30 a.m. The object had Mayan markings, according to Julie and Anthony Abbott.
Julie says that Anthony saw it on Monday morning while taking out the garbage bins. When he spotted the strange object, he immediately called his wife to see for herself the flashing UFO, reports Mirror.
She shares that the object was moving so fast that it was difficult to take a picture of it. Julie says she must have taken 50 shots, but most of the images did not come out because the UFO would not be still. When she zoomed in, it was then that Julie noticed the markings that look like Mayan runes or crop circles.
A 2011 article in Livescience by contributor Benjamin Radford cites film producer Raul Julia-Levy who claims that extraterrestrials contacted the Mayan civilization thousands of years ago in Mexico. The producer said he would prove it through the movie "Revelations of the Mayans 2012 and Beyond."
Julia-Levy stressed that the movie is a documentary and not science fiction. He belied that he made the film to benefit from the link of the Mayan culture with the end-of-the-world prediction on Dec. 21, 2012.
The couple watched it for about an hour. Julie, who is actually a UFO skeptic, says, "I've never seen anything like it in my life."
Julie adds that she was aware that Mars was supposed to be visible on Monday night, "but this was in completely the wrong part of the sky." She also insists what they saw was not a planet.
The Mirror online poll indicates that the Brit daily's readers are divided if what the Abbott couple saw was an alien spacecraft. About 51 percent said "yes" and 49 percent said "no."
