Chinese-Malaysian action star Michelle Yeoh and her husband, Jean Todt, visited former Formula One race car champion Michael Schumacher over the weekend in France. Yeoh arrived at the hospital holding hands with her husband, wearing glasses, little make-up and dressed in a hip length tan jacket, brown slacks and knee-high boots.
On Dec. 29, Schumacher suffered a horrendous head injury while skiing in the French Alps. Schumacher was attended to by the ski patrol that arrived on the scene following the accident. Schumacher was then airlifted and transported to the Grenoble University Medical Center, a center specialized in treating serious brain injuries.
While in critical condition, doctors medically induced a coma to relieve the pain Schumacher was experiencing. After going through two brain surgeries, doctors declared that Schumacher was "critical but stable." Doctors were clear to emphasize, however, that Schumacher is still not out of danger. Doctors did point out that if Schumacher had not been wearing a helmet, the injury would most likely have killed him. At the time of the accident, reports say that Schumacher was skiing in an unsecured area.
From 1996 to 2006, Todt and Schumacher worked together as part of the Scuderia Ferrari Formula One team. Todt was Scuderia's manager and Schumacher was the lead driver. Together the Todt-Schumacher tandem would go on to return Scuderia Ferrari to its former position as one of the top racing teams in the world and make Schumacher a Formula One racing legend. Indeed, while at Scuderia, Schumacher won more championships than any other driver ever. At the time, Schumacher was known as the "King of Formula One." Schumacher left Scuderia in 2006 and Todt left soon after in 2007. Currently he is the president of the International Motorsport Federation (FIA).
Yeoh and Todt have been married since 2004. Yeoh has also worked with FIA, serving as its Ambassador for Road Safety.
