Microsoft recently announced that it is planning to release a Windows 10-powered Xbox One update in November. The tech giant added that the update will be free.
Microsoft posted the announcement on its official news center, which reads, "Powered by Windows 10, the new Xbox One experience will launch around the world in November. This free update is a complete redesign built on the cornerstone of Windows 10 and provides the fastest and most social Xbox experience ever."
Aside from the Windows 10 update, Microsoft is also launching the highly anticipated Xbox One backwards compatibility. This feature will allow gamers to play Xbox 360 games on the newer console. Microsoft said that the feature will launched in November and will include 100 games.
The backwards compatibility feature is currently available to members of the Xbox One Preview program. Microsoft promised to support more titles in the future.
Games that support backwards compatibility can also be played on Windows 10 through game streaming from the Xbox One. Gamers can stream games to a single Windows 10 device at a time. Streaming with multiplayer will require a home network connection and membership to Xbox Live Gold.
