When Microsoft unveiled the Xbox One Elite Controller at the 2015 E3 conference, the controller was an instant hit. Most recently, Microsoft announced that will support remappable buttons which means that players can tinker with the controller's buttons and assign it with various actions depending on their gaming preference.
With the Xbox One Elite Controller, gamers have the option to interchange the thumb stick and the D-pad buttons. At the back of the controller, gamers can also install up to four paddles for additional fingertip control all of which are completely programmable.
When Microsoft unveiled Xbox One Elite Controller, the company focused mainly on the accompanying app that comes in with the new controller. The app can be used to remap all the buttons in the controller. On the app, gamers can also use pre-defined settings that are programmed to fit a certain game of for a specific gaming scenario.
There is a pre-defined setting for the "Halo 5: Guardians - Arena." On the app, gamers can save up to 250 different configurations on their library, according to Gamespot. The controller itself can hold a maximum of two settings at a time which can be easily changed via a simple sliding switch.
The Xbox One Elite Controller costs $150. The controller works on both PC platform and the Xbox One console. The controller is also wireless so gamers need not to worry about wires getting in the way of their gaming experience. The controller will be released on Oct. 27 which also happens to be the same release date for the "Halo 5: Guardians" video game.
Critics and gamers alike immediately frowned at the hefty price tag of the Xbox One Elite Controller. According to Ars Technica, Xbox director of program management Mike Ybarra recently tweeted that the remapping feature on the new controller will be released to all Xbox controllers in the future.
