According to the announcement, police are looking into the whereabouts of the Luoyang City vice mayor and two other individuals-with one has been identified to be a real-estate developer.

Police said that they are considering searching houses, yards, and unused workshops during their search for the three missing individuals.

Guo was elected in February and has become in charge of work safety, environmental protection, coal mining, and transportation of Luoyang City since he then.

He was also known for his battle against having illegal tricycles in the city and has initiated a daily meeting on the matter during the campaign.

According to reports, the meetings he presided over have already stopped after other officials have not seen or heard from him.

He was last seen in late July during an inspection held to check if flood safety regulations are being followed in the city.
