Retired NBA star Lamar Odom is currently fighting for his life. It was just months ago when he mourned the deaths of his friends Jamie Sangouthai and Bobby Heywald.
In June, Los Angeles County Coroner spokesperson Craig Harvey told Hollywood Life that Sangouthai went to hospital complaining about "swelling and pain in his left arm after using intravenous drugs several times a day for several years."
Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner's Lt. Fred Corral also told the publication that Odom's friend, who was 37 at the time of his death, died of a skin disease and flesh eating disease called necrotizing fasciitis and of chronic intravenous narcotism, which is associated with drug use, injections and dirty needles.
Less than a week after Sangouthai's death, Heyward died at the age of 30. The cause of death was reportedly drug overdose.
On Oct. 13, Odom was found unconscious in a VIP room ay Dennis Hof's Love Ranch South in Pahrump, Nevada. A source told TMZ that the former husband of Khloe Kardashian was taking an herbal substitute for Viagra.
Sources told the publication that Odom's former wife went to Las Vegas with her sister Kim Kardashian and mother Kris Jenner shortly to see the retired NBA star at the hospital.
Still in a coma, Odom's heart is failing and he is reportedly having serious problems with his kidneys and lungs. He is currently breathing with the assistance of machines and Khloe is by his side.
According to the Nye County Sheriff, Odom's airlift had to be scratched because he was too big for the chopper. He is 6'10."
