NBA trade rumors continue for the Boston Celtics because the roster is definitely built for it.
The fans in Bean Town totally expect-even demand that "Trader Danny" Ainge would flex his influence around the league and convert the "good" players he has into possible stars that could take them to the next level.
From the fansite Celtics Blog, numerous possibilities are suggested and probably the most feasible is a trade that would send Marcus Smart to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Nerlens Noel.
Of course, the Sixers would ask for future assets and the Celtics have a whole treasure chest of future draft picks.
"The 76ers have a lot of bigs. Nerlens Noel would fill a huge hole in Boston. Noel would most likely cost the Celtics Smart and draft considerations. I would certainly do it for Smart and the Celtics #1 next year."
The Celtics have a logjam at the point, and their main acquisition was Isaiah Thomas, incidentally, their highest ranking player in the ESPN players rank at 65. Thomas is most likely their point guard of the future instead of Smart. The Celts also have Terry Rozier and Avery Bradley.
Meanwhile, the Sixers could have a logjam at the big man position depending on the fate of Joel Embiid. If Embiid could return fully healthy and ready to work toward his potential, the Sixers would be receptive to flipping one of Noel or Okafor for future assets.
Marcus Smart would be better than any incumbent Sixers point guard (Tony Wroten, Kendall Marshall, Pierre Jackson) and a first rounder would easily entice Sam Hinkie.
The proposal does note that the Sixers could ask for the Nets 2016 first round Draft pick which is unprotected. The Celts would not part with that, especially since the Nets are projected to be lottery bound.
