Sage Northcutt has a lot going on for him.
He has six wins with six stoppages, was personally handpicked by UFC president, Dana White, to fight in the promotion, and has the looks of a fresh-out-of-high-school poster boy.
Most of all, "Super" Sage Northcutt is just 19-years-old and still has a lifetime's worth of experiences ahead of him.
Recently, Northcutt moved from Texas to Montreal's Tristar Gym to meet and train with his favorite MMA fighter, Georges "Rush" St-Pierre.
"I'm just going up there to check it out and see how it goes, see if it's a fit for me," Northcutt said in an interview with MMA Hour.
When asked about the possibility of learning from arguably the best UFC Welterweight Champion of all time, the 155-pounder was like a kid anxiously waiting to open his present on Christmas day.
"I'm just excited to see him, even if it's one day," he shared. "I always talked about how Georges St-Pierre is my favorite fighter. I look up to him, so I think it's just perfect timing that I get to go down there and train with him and get to meet them. It's going to be incredible."
Behind the bright and blinding lights of the UFC, Northcutt still goes as a full-time college freshman at Texas A&M. However, that may change soon, as the chance of fighting for a massive organization is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity presented to only a few athletes.
"Now that I'm in my second semester, I noticed that I'm getting to fight for the UFC," he explained. "Having full-time classes, it doesn't really work out because there's so much workload and so much studying that you really don't have time to train."
Northcutt continued: "Now I've cut back on the workload. In the future, too, the more fights I go, you could possibly see me taking a break from school for the year, maybe two years. We'll see how that goes."
It's astounding how a young, good-looking guy like Northcutt has the discipline and the drive to follow his dreams, instead of being out partying with his teenage buddies.
In a sport where post-fight parties are sometimes as epic as the fights itself, Sage Northcutt has the makings of a true blue martial artist who lives and breathes the values of the sport - eerily similar to that of his idol, Georges St-Pierre.
