Lamar Odom is out of coma and is reportedly breathing on his own. The former NBA star has been unresponsive since Tuesday but was able to respond to ex-wife Khloe Kardashian.
According to CNN, Odom said "hi" to Kardashian on Friday. Jim Harrick, Odom's college coach, told Anderson Cooper that Kardashian told Odom "I love you" and he blinked.
Harrick said that seeing him awake is the most encouraging news they've had. He is already weaned off from life support and is using an oxygen mask to breathe.
ET Online reported that when doctors asked Odom how he was doing he said "good morning" and gave a thumbs up.
When he was asked if he wanted to see his kids, the former Laker said "yes."
Odom suffered from organ failure and a heart attack so he was placed in a medically induced coma to stabilize his condition.
The player first opened his eyes after 72 hours of being in a coma.
Kim Kardashian posted on Twitter a picture of her and Odom dancing and in the caption she said "I believe in the power of prayer! Thx 4 ur prayers Lammy- so happy Kendall & I could make u smile 2day God is good!"
Kris and Kendall Jenner also flew to Las Vegas when they heard about the latest development in Odom's condition.
Khloe has been with her ex-husband's 24/7 never leaving his side while visitors stay in the waiting room and come in one by one to his room.
Odom is reportedly "neurologically intact" but he is still in dialysis. Despite the good improvements, the 2-time NBA champion is not yet out of the woods.
Sources from the Sunrise Hospital said that "everyone should be cautiously optimistic."
