The final design of the upcoming Volvo V90 was unveiled unceremoniously into the public domain after a photo of the die-cast model of the wagon leaked online. The photo came from an employee of the toy factory that is manufacturing the scale model of the car.
The leak was first reported by CarNewsChina. It shows the 1:43 scale model of the Volvo V90. The report added that Volvo ordered 2000 scale models of the V90 sedan from Norev, which in turn outsourced the manufacture of the toys to a Chinese manufacturer.
The leaked photo of the Volvo V90 scale model shows that the car is large enough to be considered as a real wagon rather than a sports wagon. If this is true, the V90 will be the first proper wagon Volvo will release since the launch of the Volvo V70 back in 2007.
The design of the Volvo V90, based on the scale model, is reminiscent of the Volvo Concept Estate which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2014. The two cars sport identical T-Bone design for its headlights and the striking snaking design of the taillights. Additionally, the four-door design is a hint that the car is targeted towards the executive and premium market.
The scale model of the Volvo V90 unveils some interesting design detail. Among these features are full-length panorama roof, two-tone door handle, chromed roof rails and an above-rear-window spoiler.
Based on the scale model, the Volvo V90 will also sport a large front grille with chromed vertical slants. The back of the V90 is highlighted by the roof-mounted spoiler and the hockey-stick shaped tail lamps.
Car enthusiast and experts are expecting Volvo to unveil the V90 before the end of the year. The wagon will be released in Europe in 2016. Whether the car will find its way into the United States market is still unconfirmed, according to Digital Trends.
