InFocus has unveiled new Kangaroo Windows 10 portable PC, slightly larger than other Pocket PCs and PCs to date.
The Oregon-based manufacturer and distributor of electronic products ranging from projectors to handhelds states Kangaroo can fit inside a pocket. It works by being plugged into external power, a monitor, and mouse and keyboard like a desktop tower. After using it, use can disconnect it and slip into the pocket or bag.
Kangaroo runs under Windows 10 Home and powered by Intel Atom x5-Z8500 processor clocked at 2.2 GHz. It comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of eMMC storage drive that is expandable with a MicroSD card reader. The battery capacity can last up to four hours of standard use. The Kangaroo also comes with a faster 802.11A/C Dual Band WiFi enabled card.
The device features a dock, which can be swapped out for other future docks, and it includes an HDMI port and two USB ports, according to VentureBeat. It enables users to centralize their work in one device anywhere and, no need to use multiple devices. The mobile desktop PC has also micro USB port and Wi-Fi for connectivity.
The dock also let the user connect the Kangaroo to PC monitors, big screen TVs, projectors, or even Apple’s iPad. It can even provide remote access via a hardware Action Switch, allowing user to gain entry to the Windows 10 desktop even when there is no Wi-Fi.
It has also a Fingerprint reader built into the device, letting the user to utilize Windows 10’s new biometric authentication feature, Windows Hello, to remove the hassle of passwords from logging into device and apps, WinBeta reported.
Lawrence Yen, director of Kangaroo product marketing, said that Kangaroo is the first product to allow users to use the same PC for all applications wherever they are. InFocus plans to unveil more products and accessories at CES 2016 in an attempt to build a Kangaroo ecosystem consisting: a Kangaroo monitor, dedicated storage expansion, and various port expansion docks are all in the works.
Kangaroo is now available at Newegg with a price tag of $99 and will go on sale at the Microsoft Store in November.
