The 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) informal leadership meeting opened Sunday in Beijing to the theme "Building for the Future of the Asia-Pacific Partnership."

In celebration of the occasion, a set of commemorative stamps with denomination of 1.20 yuan were officially released, according to the China Post, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' website news agency.

The stamps measuring 60-by-30 millimeters in size were designed by Jie and Zhou Yue, and printed by the Beijing Stamp Factory.

At the center of the design composition is the 2014 APEC meeting logo, a monogram pattern with 21-colored lines running along the globe symbolizing the 21 relations and integration of economies, development partners sharing a common vision.

To the left is a picture of the Great Wall of China, while to the right is a depiction of Dongsheng.

Arriving delegates to the Nov. 10-11 summit were treated to an illuminated red carpet and greeted by crowds of dancers at the spanking new 21-story Sunrise Kempinski Hotel, which sits at the heart of a 14-square-kilometer resort grounds right next to a picturesque lake. The hotel is a mere 90-minute drive away from downtown Beijing.

Further, the guests were provided with the traditional souvenir national costume for their annual summit photo shoot op. This year's attire is a jacket based on the beloved Mao-inspired tunic, but with a makeover that afforded participants the option to wear either a brown, purple or green version.

The news site RT described the 2014 APEC suits as "Star Trek-style jackets."

The main APEC agenda for this year will focus on infrastructure, graft and international supply-chain "connectivity" issues affecting the region and the rest of the world.

About 1,500 government and business leaders, CEOs and leading thinkers, including the 21 heads of states, are expected to converge in Beijing for the two-day global summit.
