In the news released by Sony, it rules out any plan of implementing backward compatibility to its PlayStation 4.
This move by Sony was announced in view of the change by Microsoft to implement the backward compatibility to its Xbox One. Sony Executive Shuhei Yoshida has responded to the Microsoft move interestingly and announced that there is no such move to implement backwards compatibility in the PS4 console.
According to Attack of the Fanboy, Sony launched a survey to some fellow gamers about the features that need to be included in the upcoming PS4 updates. Two categories have been added to the updates, which can't be considered as backward compatibility, but the users might play and buy old games on the PS4 gradually. The reason why they are reluctant to add the backward compatibility is that it already has the play station now service which allows the gamers to view many PS3 games. The gamers can subscribe the games by paying or renting some games they want to play.
In an interview with Polygon, a Sony executive reveals that the technology to be implemented must be challenging. He stated that Sony continue to focus on implementing new services and features for the PS4 and affirmed there won't be any roll back, Gamespot reported.
On the other hand, Xbox One backward compatibility is now accessible for some members and will be available to everyone by this holiday season. This feature has been extended to several Xbox One digital and physical games. The Xbox One features, like streaming and DVR, will be available to all Xbox 360 games.
