The newly regrouped Detroit hip hop group The Dirty Dozen or D12 recently released "Devil's Night Mixtape" without one of its members, Marshall Mathers III, better known as Eminem. The mixtape features the current D12 members Kuniva, Bizarre, Fuzz Scoota, Swifty McVay and Kon Artis.
Kuniva recently explained that Eminem tried to contribute to the mixtape as much as he could but he did not make it. The earlier said they wanted to really just let people know that they are also emcees they can handle themselves although they could have waited for him to go ahead and do it.
For Kuniva, they know how to do the project and they need to reinvent themselves. He said fans could expect more music from D12 in 2016. According to D12, the newly released mixtape is only an appetizer for more projects to come.
In addition, Kuniva pointed out that everybody knows who Eminem is, so they wanted to showcase themselves on "Devil's Night Mixtape" and show people they could hold their own as emcees.
On Oct. 30, D12 released the Halloween-themed mixtape, which is available on Datpiff. The long awaited new project has 13 new records with features from several artists including Slaughterhouse's Royce Da 5'9, G-Unit's Kidd Kidd, and Eminem, among others.
McVay also recently told Hip Hop DX that they wanted to represent Detroit with their styles as dark and hardcore emcees.
D12 released "Devil's Night" and "World" in 2001 and in 2004, respectively. Since the death of member Proof in 2006, the group has not been very active, so the "Devil's Night Mixtape" project serves as their comeback.
