A home education lecture was held earlier this month by a women's group in Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
The Hohhot Women's Federation welcomed more than 200 attendees to the lecture titled "Several Basic Modern-Day Problems with the Home Education of Primary and Middle School Students" on Nov. 13.
A huge portion of the attendees were workers in the home education sector.
The talk was delivered by Fu Guolian, who has held several posts in China's education field, including as former director of the Ministry of Education's Basic Education Department and deputy-director of the China Family Education Society.
Fu, who is also the editor-in-chief of "People's Education" and "Education of a Nationality" magazines, gave a presentation on the importance of homeschooling and shared theories and practical suggestions relevant to the field.
The lecture, one in a series of seminars mounted by the Inner Mongolian Women's Federation, is geared toward improving people's understanding and perception of homeschooling and imparting knowledge and skills with home education workers to enhance the quality of their profession.
The series of lectures is the women's federation's way of implementing the important proceedings during the 11th National Women's Congress in Beijing in Nov. 2013.
The lectures are also in accordance with Chinese President Xi Jinping's message during a meeting with the federation's leadership committee.
