South Korean tech company Samsung recently unveiled two new laptops, the Ativ Book 9 Pro and the Ativ Book 9 Spin. The former is Samsung's first 4K laptop while the former is a convertible-hybrid device.
The Samsung Ativ Book 9 Pro contains a powerhouse specs that includes a sixth-generation Intel Core i7 processor clocked at 2.6GHz. It has 8GB of RAM, 256GB SSD storage space, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M graphic cars, four speakers and a 4K HDMI port. According to PC Mag, the Ativ Book 9 Pro will fetch a retail price of $1,599.
Despite its massive specs, the Ativ Book 9 Pro has its fair share of downsides. First, the laptop weighs in at 4.45lbs. Second, and probably the biggest deal breaker is the laptop's battery life which is rated to last up to 6.5 hours on a single full charge. Many tech analysts said that the laptop's 4K display resolution accounts for its limited battery life.
On the other hand, Samsung also launched the Ativ Book 9 Spin. As the name suggests, the laptop's display can rotate 360 degrees. The Ativ Book 9 Spin will fetch a retail price of $1,399. The laptop does not support 4K resolution. However, its 13.3-inch Quad HD display has touchscreen capabilities and can be used as a traditional tablet or in tented mode.
The Ativ Book 9 Spin has an Intel Core i7 processor clocked at 2.5GHz. It shares the same RAM and storage specs with the Ativ Book 9 Pro. The Ativ Book 9 Spin has a battery pack that can last for more than seven hours on a single charge.
According to The Verge, the Ativ Book 9 Pro and Ativ Book 9 Spin are both available on Best Buy and Samsung.com.
