The city of Quanzhou in east China's Fujian Province held a trade exposition over the weekend, according to China.org.
The Maritime Silk Road International Brand Exposition, the first such event hosted by the province's largest city, featured close to 400 businesses hailing form 31 regions and countries.
The event commenced on Friday in Quanzhou, the starting point of the historic cultural and trade transmission route Maritime Silk Road.
Businesses in various fields and of different scales attended the expo, including tea manufacturers, investment companies and household product enterprises, among others.
Sonekama Ceylon Tea Ltd. of Sri Lanka is looking to enter the Chinese market, according to company managing director Prasantha Magina Arachchi.
The executive said that the exposition is a good venue to introduce his company to the huge and vibrant Chinese tea market.
The head of Cyprus World Trade Center's marketing and business development, meanwhile, said that he was hoping to lure Chinese entrepreneurs to put up companies in his country.
Jomoo Kitchen and Batch Co.'s international business manager Michael Gao said that he believes the event will yield more opportunities for his company, which he said has been profitable in Asia.
