Huawei has expanded its mid-range G-series with the new Huawei G7 Plus, launched earlier in November.
G7 Plus is clearly meant to be positioned as the successor to the Ascend G7 from 2014, and as such it improves upon its predecessor in many areas. The new handset is similar to the Huawei G8, which was announced at IFA 2015 and aims to offer a competitive mid-range experience at an affordable price.
Huawei G7 Plus features a 5.5-inch 1080p touchscreen with 2.5D Gorilla Glass on top. The device is powered by 1.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm MSM8939 processor and it comes with 3GB of RAM, paired with 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card.
It runs Android 5.1 with Huawei's own EMUI 3.1. The phone should receive an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in February of next year, according to GSM Arena.
It features a 13MP primary camera on the rear and a 5MP front shooter for selfies. The rear camera has with dual-tone flash and a square fingerprint sensor beneath it and the front camera features Huawei’s beauty level software. The device has a 3,000 mAh battery.
Huawei G7 Plus is manufactured with materials that are designed to coordinate with the class. It is made out of 90 percent metal, with only a couple of plastic panels on the back that hide its various antennas, giving the best signal of not missing any communications. There is a fingerprint scanner under the rear camera.
The G7 Plus costs $330 and will be offered in three color versions: silver, grey, and gold, Android Authority reported. It was launched in China and Thailand through the company’s official website. It is not yet clear if the handset will be available outside of these markets at a later date.
