HBO has confirmed that it is going to feature Mick Jagger, Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter in a rock n' roll project that is yet to be titled, Deadline reported.
Winter created the rock n' roll drama series, which has been in the works since 2010 at HBO. However, HBO had to wait for Winter to finish "Boardwalk Empire" and for Scorsese to have his schedule to be cleared.
Scorsese directed the pilot of the untitled drama series with Winter as the show runner and George Mastras, Rick Yorn, Emma Tillinger Koskoff and Victoria Pearman as executive producers. Scorsese also helmed the "Boardwalk Empire," which earned him an Emmy.
This is not the first time Scorsese and Jagger are working together. In 2008, Scorsese also directed the career-spanning documentary on the Rolling Stones titled "Shine a Light," which also featured a concert footage from the band's "A Bigger Bang" tour.
The "Shine a Light" documentary led to Scorsese and Jagger's collaboration for the still-untitled HBO rock n' roll drama series.
Set in New York in the 1970s, the hour-long drama tells a story of the music business filled with drugs and sex amid the rise of punk and disco. It features the perspective of a record executive named Richie Finestra, played by Bobby Cannavale, who is in search for the next new sound while trying to revive his label.
Olivia Wilde will play Finestra's wife named Devon, while Ray Romano will play Finestra's business partner named Zak Yankovich. Andrew Dice Clay will play a radio station owner and cocaine user, and Juno Temple will play a young record employee looking to make progress, Cinema Blend has learned.
Also joining the cast are James Jagger, Ato Essandoh, Max Casella, Birgitte Sorenson, Jack Quaid, Bo Dietl, Joe Caniano, Armen Garo, Robert Funaro P.J. Byrne and J.C. MacKenzie, among others.
HBO has yet to announce the premiere date of the drama series.
