Oscar-nominated actor Will Smith is returning to his musical roots, particularly in rap music and is making a comeback with a tour in 2016.
Smith, who is one of the music industry's first mainstream rappers, told media that he hopes to return with a show headlining, "DJ Jazzy Jeff And The Fresh Prince," for a special one-of-a-kind tour, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
While the "Suicide Squad," actor has focused more on his acting career, his former partner DJ Jazzy Jeff, whose actual name is Jeff Townes, has been touring as a solo act.
Smith was quoted by the publication saying that during their early days, the duo never had a chance to do a full tour.
DJ Jazzy Jeff confirmed the possibility of a tour to the media on a previous occasion, when he hinted that it could take place in 2016, once Smith finishes promotional activities on his latest film, "Concussion." The film is to be screened in the United States on Dec. 25, the Daily Mail reported.
While Smith has not officially announced tour dates, it has been reported that he and DJ Jazzy Jeff will perform old hits along with some new songs, that the "Focus," actor has already recorded.
Smith, who was known during the early days of his career as the "Fresh Prince," together with his bandmate, garnered a wide following in the United States in the 1980s. The duo's popularity grew at a time when hip-hop was becoming recognized as a mainstream genre.
The two enjoyed much radio play in the 1980s for their tunes which were clean-cut, and won the first rap Grammy with their hit "Parents Just Don't Understand."
In 1987 the two performers released their first album, "Rock The House," and following its release Smith was cast in the popular sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air."
