The turmoil with the Sacramento Kings was actually a big possibility and there are some sectors that already think a DeMarcus Cousins trade will happen.
This was suggested by Tom Ziller of SB Nation who mentioned that the Boston Celtics could offer the best possible package to the Kings.
"So, who has the assets to grab Cousins, a need at center and years of reported interest in the big man? Hello, Danny Ainge!"
The Celtics have a horde of first round picks in 2016. They have their own, Dallas Mavericks' top 7 protected (likely to be late lottery) and the best asset is the Brooklyn Nets unprotected pick. The Nets are winless at the moment and that pick could end up no.1!
According to Bleacher Report, the Celtics could use these assets to assemble a "Godfather" package-one the Kings could not refuse. Some pieces have been updated but the essential players are still there.
The proposal would center on Marcus Smart and Jared Sullinger and David Lee to match salaries. The Kings have a center in rookie Willie-Cauley Stein, even Kosta Koufos. Power forward is their need.
For the draft picks, the Celtics would likely place both the Mavericks pick and their own pick on the table. The Nets pick is their trump card, as it can bring them a possible lottery pick.
However, if push comes to shove, even Celtics fans from Celtics Life are ready to give up their Brooklyn Nets pick (and possibly scale down the assets they give up) if it meant a chance to snag Boogie Cousins-possibly the best center in the NBA today. The perception, though, is that Marcus Smart is a must for Sacramento as he is a good fit with Rajon Rondo because of his defense.
