A new, more lenient visa scheme for Chinese business partners traveling to the United Kingdom has been unveiled, according to a China Daily report.

The scheme, called "Select Business Scheme UK," (SBS UK), entails a "greatly simplified" process for Chinese businesspersons to enter the UK, according to an announcement by China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) on Thursday.

THE SBS UK requires representatives of Chinese enterprises to submit only three documents when applying for a visa: namely, an application form, an invitation letter and a letter of employment.

Members of the CBBC, the British Chamber of Commerce in China (BCCC), the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and representatives of companies that are given referrals by the UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) may now apply for visas using the scheme, according to CBBC.

James Meyer Sasson, CBBC chairman, said that he is looking forward to council members to use the scheme.

"Securing a visa can be a concern for Chinese companies. I wholeheartedly welcome the Select Business Scheme UK, which will streamline the process for those companies, and I very much hope that CBBC's members will take advantage of the service to strengthen links between Chinese and British companies," Sasson said.

Chinese businesspersons invest in the UK the most among European Union countries.
