Chinese telecommunications regulator TENAA has officially released several details about HTC's 5.5-inch X9u smartphone, including the utilization of BoomSound stereo speakers.
For several weeks, rumors about the 5.5-inch version of the HTC A9 were circulating around the net.
Teased often as a mere copycat of the iPhone 6 by Apple, the A9 sports a 5-inch display and decent specs. However, there have been requests to make a larger smartphone with the same design, according to The Verge.
While the HTC X9u is similar to the A9 handset, comparisons to the Nexus 6P flagship device were also made, especially since both smartphones have a camera at the upper portion that is covered in glass.
Aside from a couple of photos released by TENAA, the telecom regulator also unveiled various features of the X9u, such as a 2.2Ghz processor that has yet to be identified in terms of brand.
Surprisingly, the upcoming 5.5-inch smartphone will reportedly have the BoomSound stereo speakers which were discarded in the HTC A9. Unlike the 5-inch handset, however, the HTC X9u will not likely contain a fingerprint sensor for added security.
Moreover, 2GB of RAM, a powerful 13-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel secondary camera will be included in the HTC X9u. For media files, 16GB of internal storage and an expandable storage through microSD will be available.
To utilize the screen that is larger than that of the A9, the HTC X9u will have a stellar 1080p resolution and will immediately have the Android 5.0.2 Marshmallow mobile operating system, according to Android Central.
Meanwhile, the Taiwanese manufacturer of smartphones and tablets has yet to officially announce the HTC X9u and the release date.
However, the possibility of another name being used instead of the X9u, along with several changes in the specs, is likely once the 5.5-inch smartphone gets released beyond China.
