Foton Motor has teamed up with the government of Changsha and started the construction of the Foton Electric Truck and Environmental Industrial Park located at the Changsha National Economic and Technical Development Zone.
Kicking off on Nov. 11, the 5 billion yuan venture is regarded as a vital step in green manufacturing for the Beijing-based vehicle designer and manufacturer, Beiqi Foton Motor Co. The firm is considered as the country's largest manufacturer in terms of new-energy vehicle production and sales volume.
The industrial park is expected to add and integrate businesses such as sanitation trucks and equipment as well as vehicle chassis.
During the project's foundation laying ceremony, Changsha's top leaders including Party Chief Yi Lianhong and Mayor Hu Henghua visited and shared their remarks.
According to Mayor Hu, the establishment of the industrial park is in coherence with the city's goal of building a "two-oriented" society, the first one being resource-conserving and the other, environment-friendly.
Hu further acknowledged the endeavor as Foton's contribution to the city's aim of achieving green growth.
Moreover, the mayor noted that the city government will offer development environment and efficient administrative services to the firm.
Apart from giving recognition to Foton's undertaking, Hu also took the chance to laud the city's automobile industry. The mayor said that throughout the recent years, Changsha has turned the focal point of its automobile and spare parts industry to industrial upgrading.
Additionally, Mayor Hu cited Changsha's remarkable feat of becoming an important automobile production base across the country.
