Fox wants to solidify its hold on the Marvel properties they acquired, and to prove that they won't relinquish or "share" them like Sony did, they also tapped the TV market.

The Mutant universe that Fox acquired along with the X-Men properties are filled with rich yet tragic characters. Legion is perhaps one of the best exemplars of the troubled state that young mutants have to undergo.

Details about the series were shared by Simon Kinberg, who acts as the producer for Fox, to Collider.

The series will be penned by "Fargo" showrunner Noah Hawley. Here are Kinberg's statements on "Legion" and their other series, "Hellfire."

"Legion and Hellfire are both super active. Hellfire we're hoping to be shooting at the beginning of next year, the pilot. It's been extraordinary working with Noah Hawley [on Legion], who I think is a straight up genius," Kinberg said.

He adds: "So the TV shows give us an opportunity to go even further and certainly what I'm seeing on Legion with Noah and FX is an intent to do something completely original in the genre, in some ways to sort of blow up the paradigm of comic book or superhero stories and almost do our 'Breaking Bad' of superhero stories."

Legion is quite a character and to help understand the "Breaking Bad" parallel, this is his background from Marvel Wiki.

Legion is David Charles Haller, son of Charles Xavier aka Professor X, founder of the X-Men and Gabrielle Haller, an Israeli ambassador. Professor X was not aware that he had a child during their affair.

David's psionic powers manifested during a terrorist attack that killed his stepfather and he was able to "incinerate the brains of the assassins."

However, his powers led him to have a telepathic connection with the leader of the assassins, Karami. They found out that David's trauma led to the emergence of multiple personalities in his head, and each personality controlled one of his mutant powers, hence the name "Legion."

Legion has a myriad of powers which they can play around with on the TV series, but he is also very unstable with schizophrenia and multiple personalities all on the table.

The premise of power and madness is what would probably attract viewers to the series.
