A Buzzfeed survey on who is handsomer between Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto is ongoing while the two are among the economic leaders attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.

Latest result of the online poll shows that Trudeau was slightly leading by 4 percent, reports National Post. The two young and attractive world leaders got the attention of the media in the Philippines, the host country of the summit. Newspapers and TV broadcasts inevitably compared the two male leaders.

CNN Philippines also published an article that asked readers to pick between Trudeau and Nieto, causing the hashtag #APEChottie to be trending. A local newspaper, The Philippine Daily Inquirer, also gave the two leaders front page photos, giving a smaller photo for the headline story about the donation by U.S. President Barack Obama of two warships to the Philippines.

The public admiration for the two actually pre-dated APEC, although the Manila event pitted them unwittingly.

Nieto was one of the 15 sexiest men of 2011 and, according to the Spanish-language edition of People magazine. At that time, he was just campaigning for the presidency. Le Figaro, a French publication, in a profile, called Nieto a rock star and said he was aware that he is handsome.

Trudeau, the son of a former Canadian prime minister, was elected to office in October only. The Canadian newspaper notes he has gained international attention "for his looks than his platform." With curly hair and slim face, Trudeau bears some resemblance to singer Josh Groban.

His good looks appears to have eclipsed a stinky issue between Manila and Ontario over the shipment of 50 containers vans filled with Canadian garbage to the Philippines which Canada refused to accept back.

In anticipation of media attention to the two, local journalists covering the APEC summit were reminded "against shouting or making giddy remarks." The warning was made after an observation that many media men were requesting for selfies with Trudeau which also happened when he was in Turkey for the G20 summit.

Unfortunately for the president of the host country, Benigno Aquino III had to bear the ire of Filipinos over the massive traffic jams caused by the APEC is key roads in Metro Manila, especially from commuters who have to walk 10 kilometers when Roxas Boulevard was closed to vehicular traffic. He also has been made the subject of a meme that compares the cartoon image of Trudeau and Nieto with Aquino who appears to have some physical semblance to a minion.
