Funcom has announced that its psychological horror game “The Park” is coming across Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in early 2016.
The single-player psychological horror game was released for PC at the end of October. Funcom said that the PC release was successful. “The Park” is Funcom's first single-player game since the 2006 release of “Dreamfall: The Longest Journey,” and this launch also marks the company's first console game in almost 10 years, Gamespot reported.
“The Park” is a dark thriller about a child lost in an amusement park. It is described as messed-up, H.P. Lovecraft-style story. . The game presents a nightmare scenario for parents; the gamer play as a mother, Lorraine, whose son has gone missing in a creepy, broken-down amusement park. Lorraine must then explore the park and face its horrors to locate her son.
The appeal of the game explores a dark, sinister and frankly terrifying location from the comfort of the player’s sofa, with the lights turned off and controller in hand. It is sure to be a very rewarding experience for the players, offering pant wetting, nightmare inducing experience.
Funcom CEO Rui Casais said the PS4 and Xbox One release was encouraged by the positive reactions of PC players they have received. “The Park” is the result of a new business strategy that Funcom announced in August, where the company will develop small, experimental, and innovative games that focus on new concepts and platforms using the company's existing IP.
Funcom is hopeful that this strategy will help pull it out of the financial trouble they have been experiencing as a result of Lego Minifigures Online's poor performance. The company has not yet announced the price but it is likely to have a price tag of $13, according to IGN.
