Former Formula 1 Michael Schumacher's son, Mick Schumacher, has garnered the highest votes to take part in the upcoming Mercedes-Benz's Stars & Cars Competition.
According to the Bit Bag, Mick will be competing against renowned F1 racers like Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg during the event that will take place in Stuttgart, Germany.
F4 racer, Mick, is among the six drivers voted to join the Stars & Cars event, according to Autosport. The following are all the top six contestants who won the online voting according to the official Mercedes-Benz website:
- Mick Schumacher: 61,554 votes
- David Coulthard: 61,080 votes
- Mika Hakkinen: 60,707 votes
- Jean Alesi: 58,414 votes
- Bernd Schneider: 57,140 votes
- Bernd Maylander: 56,216 votes
Eighteen contestants were included in the online ballot. Mick will be facing off against 15 other drivers come Dec. 12. The rest of the participants in the upcoming event include: Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Pascal Wehrlein, Paui Di Resta, Gary Paffett, Robert Wickens, Christian Vietoris, Daniel Juncadella, Maximilian Götz, and Lucas Auer.
The 2015 Stars & Cars Event will be the first annual event ever for Mercedes Benz to hold inside a stadium where actual racing will be demonstrated. The main event will involve the 16 racers using similar cars in each of the four rounds.
Mick completed 10th at the F4 season this year for the Dutch team, Van Amersfoort Racing. Michael's son also won the Rookie of the Meeting trophy in German in April after winning the Oschersleben record.
Herman Tomcyzk, ADAC Motorsport President, initially pointed out according to AFP that Mick has a promising future ahead of him.
