Oscar-winning actress Julianne Moore shed tears on demand in New York’s Times Square for Funny or Die’s “Billy on the Street.”
The comedy game show hosted by Billy Eichner features episodes where the host plays the “man on the street” and quizzes New York City pedestrians on pop culture.
In the most recent episode, Eichner brought multi-awarded actress, Moore with him to act out script lines in front of tourists for spare change.
E! Online reports Eichner introduced the actress with “The Julianne Moore Acting Attack” to passers-by, encouraging bystanders to watch Moore perform, and give her quarter tips for her acting.
People also pronounced their opinions of Moore’s dramatic monologues, some calling her recitations “Oscar worthy.”
Moore used a series of cue cards to read lines from movies she has starred in and won critical acclaim for, including “The Big Lebowski,” “The Kids Are All Right,” and “Magnolia.”
In a dramatic recitation from a scene from “Magnolia,” Moore cried on cue for tourists. One tourist in particular appeared confused by a performance.
Rolling Stone reports the tourist, who didn’t speak English, insisted on having his picture taken with the sobbing actress instead.
Later, Eichner took to his Twitter account, calling his “1st Oscar winner on ‘Billy on the Street’” as “remarkable,” and “a highlight of my life!”
The 54-year-old Moore recently received an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as an Alzheimer’s patient in the Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland 2014 drama, “Still Alice.”
She has also won the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, as well as a Golden Globe Best Actress trophy for the same movie.
