Chinese mobile phone maker Gionee recently announced and unveiled its latest 5.0-inch budget smartphone, called the P5W. The handset sports a glossy polycarbonate body that comes in black, white, pink, blue or yellow colors.
The announcement of the P5W comes after two other Gionee handsets with the model number, GN9010L and GN5001S, got certified by China's Telecommunications Equipment Certification Center (TENAA) earlier this month.
Specs-wise, the Gionee P5W sports a 5.0-inch HD IPS display screen with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, accompanied by Oncell technology. It runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop version operating system along with Gionee's bright and colorful Immersive UI on top. In addition, the user interface comes matched with the color of the body, according to GSM Arena.
Under the hood, the P5W is powered by a MediaTek MT6735 processor, and packs 1GB of RAM, up to 16GB of built-in memory storage and a 2,000 mAh battery.
In terms of the camera, the P5W has a 5 megapixel rear-facing snapper with Autofocus LED flash capability, and a 2 megapixel front-facing shooter. Other specs include a DTS 3D Stereo surround sound and support for dual SIM functionality, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and GPS.
In terms of dimensions, the handset weighs about 153 grams and measures 143.3 x 72 x 8.9mm in thickness, according to Gionee. The Gionee P5W is expected to arrive in the market anytime soon, however, it's still unclear how much the phone will cost.
In the meantime, the Chinese company, on the other hand, recently launched the Gionee Marathon M5 handset that comes with a 5.5-inch display screen and a massive 6020 mAh battery inside. This device is expected to be launched in China on Dec. 21.
