"The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder may have just denied rumors that he just used his ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev to help boost the ratings for The CW show.
According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Somerhalder didn't use Dobrev because the actor believes that the show will and has been surviving without her.
In a recent interview with Variety, the actor also said that "The Vampire Diaries" didn't change a lot after Dobrev's exit.
At that time, Somerhalder admitted that he was also one of those people who thought that the series may not survive now that Dobrev is no longer playing the role of Elena Gilbert.
"I personally think that everyone thought it was going to be a huge departure after Elena was gone. And I was one of those people. I thought it was going to be a huge departure for the typical formula of our show. By the virtue of the fact that it wasn't a huge leap for mankind, as far as changing it up, there were some differences that sort of mixed up the formula," he said.
Meanwhile, there were also some rumors that some fans are thinking negatively of Dobrev for leaving "The Vampire Diaries" in season 6.
Some fans believe that when the show started getting low ratings, Dobrev was the first cast member who got out of the franchise.
In other news, Dobrev is set to star in multiple movies in the next couple of years so it's also possible that she left "The Vampire Diaries" to be able accept new projects.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 airs Thursdays on The CW.
