NBA Trade Rumors continue to heat up as the Phoenix Suns are exploring options for Markieff Morris.
According to a Yahoo report, the New Orleans Pelicans are interested in the formerly disgruntled power forward.
"The Suns and Pelicans have had preliminary contact about a potential trade, but Morris'pending felony aggravated assault chargesremain a possible obstacle for virtually every team interested in making a deal, sources told Yahoo," the report stated. "Nevertheless, the Pelicans have significant interest in pairing Morris on a frontline with Anthony Davis."
The Suns did not trade Markieff despite his trade demand in the summer. It was good for them to show that their former starting power forward is fit and professional enough to play. However, he has fallen to third in his position in the team's depth chart due to "poor play and attitude."
Still, teams will be interested in Morris because of his cheap and long-term contract. Also, there is always the lingering doubt that his poor play is the result of being displeased with staying in Phoenix.
SB Nation noted that it might not be the right move for the Pelicans. Aside from the reported attitude problems, Morris, along with his twin brother Marcus who is now with the Detroit Pistons, are facing felony charges for assault.
Still, the Pelicans bad start propels them to try and make a move. "The Pelicans' brutal start has them in a spot where they may feel a shake-up is necessary and Morris is a talented player on a value contract." Anthony Davis and Morris, at his best would be an intriguing and dynamic frontline.
