CD Projekt RED developers of "The Witcher 3" are doing well as fans usher in 2016. The team has plans to continue providing DLC for the famous RPG, and thereafter, the studio will launch "Cyberpunk 2077" meant to gain gamer trust.
In an interview on the Polish TV show "Money" translated by CG Magazine, developer CEO Adam Kicinsk teased that "The Witcher 3" will get bigger as its "Blood And Wine" expansion launches in the first half of 2016.
Kicinsk said, "Apart from the second expansion we have some additional ideas. They should help us animate sales in 2016. The game is selling so well, that we are convinced there are still many people who will buy it if we promote it further."
The developer CEO confirmed that the studio will remain committed to DLC up to the end of 2016.
However, considering larger expansion, Kicinsk was clear that fans should not feel like they are being dubbed and exploited for cash. In his own words, Kicinsk asserted, "we don't want to exploit gamers for their money." This could be the rationale behind the DLC for the game being free.
There are high chances that the trend will continue come 2016. The intention is to maintain the employee numbers considerably small so that player benefits are fiscally feasible.
As soon as the expansion campaign is over, the developer company CD Projekt will shift focus to the initially announced "Cyberpunk 2077" title. As opposed to "The Witcher," this game has futuristic aspects with corporations in a morally gray universe. While "Cyberpunk 2077" development started in 2012, the studio is yet to provide a release window.
Kicinsk said, "We already have the release date for 'Cyberpunk 2077' planned, but we won't announce it until we are ready to start the marketing campaign."
In case more DLC for "The Witcher 3" is in development, it will possibly have an effect on the deadline of "Cyberpunk 2077."
"The Witcher 3" is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Watch the clip below for more information.
