The 2016 MKX is Lincoln's newest brand of luxury crossover and although copious amounts information about the MKX leaked in the past and gave the public some insight about the vehicle. In the Detroit Auto Show, Lincoln officially handed out the 2016 MKX specifications.
In the latest event of the Detroit Auto Show, an emerging trend is slowly making its headway and that is the crossover between a luxury and SUV cars. Lincoln has also revealed its flagship car in this market and targets not only the North American market but also the developing luxury car market of Asia, more specifically in China.
The MKX will have an EcoBoost 2.7 liter six-cylinder engine which can reach up to 330 horsepower of engine output. A non-EcoBoost variant will also be available which has a V6 3.7 liter engine. There might be some slight differences in the two engines but both will have six-speed automatic transmission.
According to Lincoln the new 2016 MKX will be the most powerful version of the luxury car and various drive tests prove that the MKX has one of the best handling as well. Lincoln also installed several interesting techs inside the MKX, among this is the autonomous-parking-aid technology which enables the car to park by itself on either parallel or perpendicular parking spaces and it can also drive out of those difficult parking situations.
According to Lincoln, the MKX will be initially released in the US market sometime in the third quarter of the year. It will then be subsequently released in various markets including Canada, the Middle Eastern region, Mexico and South Korea. However, among the markets that the MKX will be available the most interesting is China.
Right now China is slowly opening up to luxury brand cars and big luxury car manufacturers are concentrating on their market in China. Many experts and market analyst consider Chinese luxury car market as the major game changer in terms of overall sales in the year to come.
