"The Big Bang Theory" actress Mayim Bialik had "mixed and complicated feelings" about the events in series' season 9 episode 11 titled "The Opening Night Excitation, which could also lead to the marriage of her character Amy and Sheldon (Jim Parsons).
"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 episode 11 saw Amy and Sheldon have sex for the first time during a long time of courtship. On Dec. 19, Bialik wrote on her website Grok Nation her reflection of the major breakthrough and plotline for the series' characters.
Bialik wrote that she had had a lot of mixed and complicated feelings about the sex scene. The "The Big Bang Theory" actress also mentioned that what many of the fans had been excited to learn that the physical connection between Amy and Sheldon had been coming, many of them had been also upset that the surprise had been ruined with so much coverage.
Aside from her feelings with regard the scene, Bialik also addressed some of the queries that led up the episode's airing, putting emphasis on how the two would have such intimacy, which made her uncomfortable.
Also, Bialik wrote that the episode and their show were not about "vulgarity" as a mainstay, adding that their writers were sensitive people. The actress also mentioned that their writers had not written an episode about sex to be "rauchy" or "bawdy."
For Bialik, the "The Big Bang Theory" writers had written an episode about sexual intimacy in a committed loving relationship between two characters people had known and had loved for years.
After spending their night together, Amy and Sheldon's wedding is a possibility, according to "The Big Bang Theory" creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre.
In his interview with Fox411 at a Hollywood Radio and TV Society lunchein in Beverly Hills, Lorre said nothing was on the table and the show continued to grow in ways he would never have anticipated.
Lorre mentioned the storyline was made by head writer Steve Molaro, who had been working on it for several months. According to the executive producer, it had been handled with a lot of delicacy, plus the thought that there was a very elegant way the episode had been crafted.
For the "The Big Bang Theory" executive producer,the duo had taken a very large step forward, but it did not damage their relationship. Lorre added that he would never have dreamed of the storyline when they had started the show.
In fact, the executive producer admitted that he had viewed Sheldon's sexuality differently. He said, "I actually imagined that Sheldon's character had been asexual."
