UFC Champ Jon Jones said that he is not addicted to cocaine after drug test revealed positive result, TMZ reported.
Jones reiterated that he is also not a frequent user and confessed that he made a "dumb decision." The fighter revealed his thoughts about the incident in an interview with Fox Sports 1.
Jones added that he is not blaming anyone or anything for what happened but he is solely blaming himself. The athlete's mother revealed that Jones entered a rehabilitation facility for one night after the results were obtained.
The UFC fined Jones $25,000 for breaching the Code of Conduct policy and released an official statement regarding their decision. The statement announced that the fine will be donated to "substance abuse prevention program."
The UFC added that they came up with the decision after thorough investigation and after the Nevada Athletic Commission declared that Jones tested negative in his drug test after the fight on Jan. 3.
The said drug test was performed on Dec.4, 2014 in compliance with procedural pre-fight tests by the Nevada State Athletic Commission to check for performance boosting drugs. In addition, a test for drug abuse was also performed before Jones' scheduled fight against Daniel Cormier, according to Fox Sports.
On Dec, 28 2014, the positive for cocaine results arrived. According to the law, the champion will not be punished for the result since cocaine is not an illegal drug for athletes who are on break. Jones took a break a month before the test was conducted.
The fight went as scheduled and Jones defeated Cormier in the first UFC fight for 2015. The test results were publicized two days after the fight and Jones prepared an official statement before his admission in the rehab.
It was also reported that Jones and Cormier received $50,000 each as a bonus after the "Fight of the Night."
Jones will answer the controversy surrounding the drug test and the fight in an interview with Charissa Thompson at 11 PM on Monday night.
