The New York Knicks still need to make some moves to cement their place in the playoffs, according to some observers.
They are still on the outside looking in, and they do need a boost. Perhaps that could come from a familiar face.
The Daily Knicks has named Pau Gasol as a viable target, as he would have no problem fitting in with Derek Fisher's system. Fisher was Pau Gasol's teammate with the Los Angeles Lakers wherein they won two championships together.
An article in the Chicago Sun-Times says that Pau Gasol, along with other members of the Chicago Bulls frontcourt may be up for grabs.
"The likes of Gibson, Noah and Gasol might not even see the end of their current contracts, as several sources indicated that the Bulls are taking calls on all three players as the trade deadline draws near."
The Bulls want to clear up their frontline to develop Bobby Portis, their first round draft choice. They also want help with their perimeter shooting. The Daily Knicks cited Arron Afflalo as a possible trade piece.
"Arron Afflalo would answer Chicago's call for perimeter help, and Gasol would more than make up his offensive impact-albeit from a different position," TDK stated. "New York would have to offer more than just Afflalo, including one of its coveted young guards, but it would prove worthwhile."
Gasol has a lot to offer the Knicks. Aside from having another solid scoring option alongside Carmelo Anthony, the Spaniard has knowledge of the Triangle offense and he could be a fitting mentor for rookie Kristaps Porzingis.
