AAA strives throughout the year to educate motorists and keep them safe by taking precautions. They include driving while alcohol and drug free, and when under the influence having a designated driver or taking a cab. During the holiday season the auto club is also offering its Tow to Go service to provide roadside assistance in order to help keep roads as safe as possible and prevent drunk driving incidents.
This year AAA is teaming up with Bud Light to offer the service again, according to Patch. It will be available until January 2, Saturday at 6 a.m., and is free of charge to AAA members as well as non-members.
Drivers who have had too much to drink during the holiday season just have to call Tow-2-Go to receive a confidential tow within a 10-mile (16-kilometer) radius to a safe area, according to Tri-County Sun Times.
The AAA program was launched in 1998. Its website reports that since then the program has given lifts to over 23,000 impaired drivers. It provides a helping hand to people who have had one too many drinks during the holiday season, preventing them from driving while they are too intoxicated.
It is important to note that calls received during high-volume times will result in an extended wait. However, it is certainly worth the wait if it keeps one possible drunk driver off the road.
There are also a few important rules. For example, tow truck drivers can only take a maximum of two people and a single vehicle home.
AAA's Tow to Go program is also available for other holidays. They include Independence Day, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving.
