The Sacramento Kings losing cause to the Golden State Warriors was highlighted by a wild-west type, "who blinks first" shootout between Stephen Curry and the Kings' Omri Casspi.
One cannot be blamed for a surprised reaction. Omri Casspi is the Israeli player from the Kings has quietly emerged as the best three point shooter in the NBA, according to SB Nation. There is also a video of his shootout with Steph Curry.
"After a 36-point outburst against the Warriors, Omri is leading the NBA in three-point shooting (48.7 percent) among players who attempt at least three per game and have appeared in 10 games," SB Nation points out.
Casspi has been under the radar for most of his career-known for giving quality minutes. But Coach George Karl trusted him in Sacramento and his success this season spilled over from 2014-15.
"His shooting success this season follows a blistering finish to 2014-15 when he shot 46 percent from deep over the 29 games he played under Karl," the article stated. "So, in 59 games with the coach, Casspi is 88-for-184 from long-range, a 48 percent clip."
After his celebrated throwdown with the league's best player, there are already calls for him to join the three point shootout. From Sacramento Kings site A Royal Pain, the team and its fans seem eager for representation in the events from on All-Star Weekend. Casspi can bring them something to cheer about.
Not only does Omri show the stats to deserve a spot in this contest, but throughout this season he has been consistently reliable in putting the ball in the bucket from long range," ARP said. "He deserves at least to be a serious candidate to participate in the three-point shooting contest that takes on February 2016 in Toronto."
Would Curry be up to the challenge? This will add color to the event, not to mention the next Kings-Warriors game.
