The New Orleans Pelicans continue to chase a playoff spot, but they should make a decision before the trade deadline.

With the February deadline more than just a month away, the Pelicans could try to make a last ditch effort to break into the post-season or simply blow up the roster and build for the future.

According to Today's Fastbreak, the Pelicans could be sellers in February and one of their main assets, Ryan Anderson, could be sent to a familiar face: Coach Stan Van Gundy of the Detroit Pistons.

Van Gundy coached Anderson with the Orlando Magic when they made it all the way to the NBA Finals behind Dwight Howard. Anderson could reprise his role of a stretch forward beside a behemoth center, this time it's Andre Drummond.

On the other hand, for the Pelicans, "this is a two-month flyer on Jennings and a free second-round pick. If the 26-year-old point guard is effective, New Orleans can add him to the next core. If not, you just let him walk when his contract expires this summer." Anderson is also a free agent to be, so it's just a virtual try-out for both teams.

However, there is some dissent among the Pelicans with regards to trading Anderson. In their team site, The Bird Writes, they conducted a poll where 57% of the readers objected to an Anderson trade.

They note that Anderson is one of their best players off the bench, and there should be a compelling return if they were to trade him. Point guard was not listed a priority, but they want to acquire a small forward, get a better defensive big man than Asik or free up space for a star free agent.
