The Memphis Grizzlies are ready to move on, and they may have to let go of one of the city's most beloved figures.
Zach Randolph is one of the poster boys for the "Grit and grind" style that Memphis employed. As the team seeks a shift in their philosophy, a trade might be in order.
In the Grizzlies' team site, Beale Street Bears, they mentioned that trading Randolph is "not a bad idea." While the trade mentioned in the article dealt with the Toronto Raptors, there are other possibilities.
The Denver Nuggets are a team that is on the verge of giving up their playoff hopes, and with that, they look ahead on possible moves that can be beneficial in the long term.
In their own fan site, Denver Stiffs, the writers were asked on which trade they want their team to make, and Dan Lewis suggested letting go of their best trade asset, Kenneth Faried to acquire Zach Randolph.
"Faried is the obvious player for me to have moved via trade," Lewis said. "As a smart person once said, it's difficult to see him as a player to build around. He makes good teams great, but he doesn't make a team good."
The Denver Nuggets had to trade their star player, Carmelo Anthony, to the New York Knicks, as he demanded the move. While they had a good haul in return, the Nuggets never had a chance to draft a future star as they were always competitive. Faried is a solid contributor, but it's unlikely he will be the one to turn the needle for them.
To be fair, neither will Randolph, but he may serve a different purpose. "Moving Faried for Zach Randolph is the wagon I've been driving lately. It saves the Nuggets money long term, and Z-Bo could be an excellent model for Nurkic, Lauvergne and Jokic."
