The Philadelphia 76ers already have a logjam at the center spot and yet they are waiting on Joel Embiid-another center.
Now that the current state of the game no longer prioritizes the position, the Sixers "luxury" has turned into a burden.
The Philadelphia fan site The Sixer Sense has evaluated all three of their centers including the injured Embiid (who has yet to play a single game) to find out which one should the team trade.
Jahlil Okafor is the most polished player offensively and is already filling up the scoresheet. He had some off-court issues that he can grow out of and the teams is now more equipped to address them.
With those aside, TSS mentioned that Okafor "seems to be the future of this Philadelphia 76ers team, but some have flirted around with the idea of trading him to another team just because his value is so high."
On the other hand, Nerlens Noel is a defensive specialist and athletic rim protector but he does not have the offensive chops that Okafor has. The question for trading Noel instead of Okafor rests on the value that the team could get in return as he "might not have the same return that Okafor could give the Sixers, but there's certainly a market out there for him."
Joel Embiid is an enigma as he has yet to play and show what he is really capable of, not to mention how he has recovered from his spate of injuries. As such, he has no trade value to speak of at this time.
The Sixer Sense concluded that Noel would be the one to go. There were already trade rumors linking him to teams like the Orlando Magic and Milwaukee Bucks. Also, Basketball Insiders' Steve Kyler declared Jahlil Okafor as untouchable.
"Not sure why people believe the 76ers would consider trading Jahlil Okafor, but let's clear it up... they are not at all interested in trading Jah," Kyler responds to a reader's chat question.
