"Kung Fu Panda 3" is one of the most anticipated films of 2016.

International actor and martial artist Jackie Chan has revealed more details about his voice role in "Kung Fu Panda 3," with the 3D animated film set to hit mainland cinemas on Jan. 29, as reported by CRIEnglish.

The popular kung fu icon describes the experience of dubbing two different characters in three different editions of the film as interesting and challenging.

"I did my recording in the United States, Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai," said Chan. "They asked me to do the recording when they had finished almost all the preparations, as I had a busy schedule to film in various places around the world. So I'd do some recording while I was in the United States. They were all very earnest."

Chan voices the characters of Master Monkey and the biological father of Panda Po. He voices both characters in the English, Mandarin and Cantonese editions of the latest installment of the "Kung Fu Panda" series of films.

The 61-year-old actor said that he immersed himself in his roles whenever he entered the recording studio.

"My role would have a steamed bun in mouth sometimes," said Chan. "So I put three fingers in my mouth while dubbing. Those details can help enliven the cartoon character. It's very cool."

Recently, Jeffrey Katzenberg, the CEO of DreamWorks Animation, announced that the Mandarin edition of "Kung Fu Panda 3" will not simply be a dubbed version of the film, but a redesign and rewrite of the script.

The Mandarin edition will also have dialect elements that will help Chinese audiences connect better with the film. It will make it easier for them to understand the film and get punchlines.

"Kung Fu Panda 3" is set to be released in both China and the United States on Jan. 29.

"Kung Fu Panda 2" was once the most successful animated film in China until it was surpassed by "Monkey King: Hero is Back." Industry observers are now waiting to see if the new film in the franchise can take back the title.
