'Tekken 7' rumors; Bandai Namco still not developing PS4 version; Sequel to feature online matchmaking, new 'Scenario Campaign' mode!

Tekken 7 is a fighting game developed and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment as the ninth instalment in the Tekken series.

New details for "Tekken 7" will feature new online matchmaking and "Scenario Campaign" modes, as well as Bandai Namco still not working on the PlayStation 4 version of the game.

Bandai Namco stated that "Tekken 7" will feature an online matchmaking for the PS4 and Xbox One consoles similar to the arcades. Game Designer Michael Murray explained that the online matchmaking will allow players to compete with everyone around the globe.

Murray added that they are still exploring several technicalities for the online matchmaking feature in order to make it work for the console versions. Sony will likely give support for Bandai Namco in allowing "Tekken 7" to have online matchmaking since it has been a popular concept from other video game titles such as "Street Fighter 5" and "Mortal Kombat X", Gamesradar reported.

However, Bandai Namco is also worried about the unsportsmanlike manner of some gamers, thinking that quitting in an online match could cause an upset in the system's balance.

Game Director Katsuhiro Harada teased that "Tekken 7" could also include a new "Scenario Campaign" mode similar to "Tekken 6", when he answered game fans questions on Twitter. Although he did not divulge any details, Harada stated that they will do the their best in develop and new Scenario Campaign for the sequel.

In other news, severl reports claim that Bandai Namco has noy yet started the PS4 and Xbox One versions for "Tekken 7".

Murray and Visual Designer Kousuki Waki told PlayStationLifeStyle that they are currently handling "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" for the arcade test this month. Murray admitted that Bandai Namco has not yet started working on the console versions of the game, but he assured gaming fans that they will work on it as soon as the arcade test are done.

"Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" will feature new arenas, alternate character attires and playable fighters like "Street Fighter's" Akuma and Nina Williams. The arcades will start on Feb. 12-15 in selected Japanese locations such as Tokyo’s Namco Sugamo, Osaka’s Round One Stadium Sennichimae Arcade and Namco’s Hakata Bus Terminal Arcade in Fukuoka.

Murray added that having the arcade test could the perfect opportunity to test out the features, collect data and listen to feedbacks from gaming fans in order to implement new ideas for the console versions.

The current roster lineup includes Jin, Kazuya, Heihachi, Hwoarang, Steve Fox, Asuka, Lili, Xiaoyu, Marshall Law, Paul Phoenix, King, Yoshimitsu, Bryan Fury, Feng Wei, Dragunov, Leo, Lars, Alisa and Nina. New faces are also present in the game such as Lucky Chloe, Katarina Alves, Claudio Serafino, Jose Rizal, Shaheen, Gigas, Jack-7, Akuma and Kazumi Mishima.

"Tekken 7" is speculated to launch on late 2016 for the PS4 and Xbox One.
